I loved season 1. But season 2 is making about zero sense to me.
No spoilers in this post, but I want to ask questions about episodes 4&5 downthread.

(52,317 posts)I found the characters of villanelle and Fiona fascinating, the rest, meh. Well eve to some extent I suppose.
Best bits were the way villanelle kills and the dialogue about those killings.

(54,065 posts)Villanelle is fun to watch, but a little too flawless (or too lucky) in her early kills.
I loved watching Eve get sucked in by Oxana in season one. But her just not giving a damn about capturing her when she basically had her in custody in S2-E5 made no fucking sense at all. She was wanted for a string of murders, including Eve's close friend Bill Pargrave, and MI6 just lets her walk away? Eve just lets her walk away, no explanation why? That's way out of character
And then they just skip over how Villanelle interrogates the Ghost Killer. I can understand leaving some of it implied--but they didn't do that. They just went back into the container and showed the Ghost Killer frightened, but with not hint about what Villanelle did. That's not how a procedural show works. It's about procedure. Spies don't just let their prisoners walk away "for reasons."
Fiona hanging out with Konstantin in her car after he "escaped" at the same time just seems like lazy writing. I was loving this show so much. Now it feels all sharkjumpy. This "Thanks and so long, guess we'll get back to trying to catch you after this time-out, ol buddy" stuff is insulting.

(52,317 posts)Eve as you said got sucked in. She's too much in love/hate/admiration/fascination with villanelle and it's mutual. Or is it? That tension drives a lot of that dynamic between them. Eve sees a lot of herself in villanelle and wonders what it would be like to be her, be with her, explore her. She gets too caught up in that to do her job properly.
For that matter, villanelle could have killed eve but passed. Mirror images in some ways.
There's a bit of a Sherlock Holmes-Moriarty thing going on there.
As for Fiona and Konstantin, there's more story there on that level as the intrigue at that level plays out in mystery while eve and villanelle and others in the field seem at times to be just pawns in a much much bigger game.

(2,015 posts)But gave up in season 2. I had 7 episodes on my DVR forever and finally realized I just didn't care and deleted them.

(54,065 posts)Agree with you. Drop in characterization quality. Looks like I lasted a couple of episodes longer than you. I'm about to dump it off my Hulu list. My Name Is Earl is better for my personal character development.

(63,221 posts)I liked it, however I did begin to weary of the cat and mouse chase after a while. I don't know, but it just really kind of stressed me out. It was a good show, but I just couldn't really deal with it anymore.
