This is a magnesium-containing form of aspirin and as such the magnesium performs as a light muscle relaxant. Some OTC products are hype, but this form of aspirin is typically superior for mild to moderate back pain. (but don't combine with the ibuprofen--wait at least most of a day before switching)

(17,015 posts)I'm careful to avoid backache. I was having trouble the beginning of the year. I realized I was wearing footwear that was 2 or 3 years old. I dug out a pair I had hardly worn, and after a day, my backache was gone. None of the slide on sandals I wear around the house are expensive or orthopedic, but they are heavier made than flipflops.
Hope by now, you are feeling better.

(13,924 posts)I also have an old trauma and it caused a mild scoliosis. ANYHOO. The two things that kept the surgeon's knife away was an inversion table and doing the yoga pose called the cobra. The table is like traction for your spine. It decompresses the intervertebral disks and takes pressure off the nerve roots. No I don't go totally inverted just enough to feel the tug. I usually just take a short nap.. I will never get rid of it.
The cobra pose does a lot of the same thing but in a different way. When the disk pushes out It touches the spinal nerves. If you push the disk back into place the pressure on the nerve root diminishes.. If you bend foreword you push the disk out. If you bend backwards you push the disk back into place. The Cobra position does just that. YMMV.,works for me...
If I just have a back spasm or muscle problem I just use CBD cream with menthol... Works great..

(32,714 posts)get your eye pressure checked if you are older before using inversion therapy. I use to hang by my feet for years and it worked great on my back. I now have glaucoma and can't do it anymore.

(23,155 posts)i did yoga for years, then quit as my back got bad. Took it back up 20 years and and 2 auto accidents later, and cobra could not be done. It actively hurt, sharp pain in my lower back, and yoga should never hurt. Child pose, however, is a completely different story and so are airplanes. I do those stretches & they help my lower back, and really whole body, and don't hurt. Those 2 were recommended by my physical therapist well.

(13,924 posts)so I wouldn't have problems at work. Sometimes a "fatty" would get me and I had to take a few days off from work. It would happen maybe once or twice a year.
Sucks when you have a Superman Syndrome and your body will not cooperate.
"I can do it, I can do it" errr maybe not.
I'm 72 and have been doing a half ass yoga routine since I was 21. It's just basically the sun salutation with a few extras thrown in and some Pilates, kettle bells and free weights...
A few years ago I had a back spasm and mentioned it to my new GP. He did an xray of my back and his comment was "man you have a really fucked up back.. At this point it's just a nuisance and I know what to do it it rears it's ugly head. I'm really lucky. I hate going to doctors.. everything is about the money..YMMV

(23,155 posts)Might be my dessicated, thin discs plus scoliosis is what makes this so undoable for me? Luckily there are some poses I can do, which help, even with my super fucked back. I have found bridges help ease my low back when it gets stiff. The trick is doing it before it immobilizes me.

(13,924 posts)My aunt has a friend who taught piano. Her arthritis got so bad she would put ice cream sticks on her fingers just to keep them straight so she could play... Worked for her but I have a hard time imagining it.
The cat/cow pose also helps my back...It sounds like 10 people cracking their knuckles when I do it... Very musical!!

Check your mattress for sagging. If it's sagging it's definitely time to purchase a new one.
How old are your shoes? They might look alright, but if you have had them for awhile they may not be supporting you correctly.
Sitting all day and poor posture can cause back pain as well.
I was diagnosed with arthritis in my lower back at the young age of 24. I do daily stretches/yoga to combat it. Lately, it's been my glute area that causes me to have mobility issues if I don't do my workout routines, so I have to make sure that I stay active. This might not apply to you, it could be something entirely different in your case. If you continue to have issues, please get it checked out by a doctor.
Perhaps your washing too many socks? Lol, I'm only teasing and I had to throw that one in.
