This with the internet news about cell phone radiation causing brain cancer (yes, talked about for years).
Have got this lump over the left ear, where I put the cell phone. The news says it takes 10 years of exposure, 17 minutes/day. Kim KOMANDO says not to put the danged phone anywhere on the body, pockets, to use whaddayacallit SPEAKER, that she's put all her relatives on alarm not to have the phone near any part of the body.
So, there's this lump... How fast do those things appear? Like, prostate cancer is said to be the SLOWEST cancer. What about this?
********** ON EDIT, am doing this here so as not to kick the thread: Thanks, all, for the insights. Tomorrow/Monday I *will* get rolling to get checked out. I first noticed this thing 5 days ago, out of the blue. Iow, "suddenly" so might have been some kind of "bump"/contusion versus "lump"/growth? Or do "lumps"/tumor appear suddenly? I'll be finding out soon. Thanks, again.

(14,961 posts)often. I used to sleep with mine to listen to podcasts, I finally stopped, but it was a good few years.
I wish I knew more.
Edit: Sorry that below was a double post.

(63,221 posts)see a doctor as soon as you can. is it painful?
From Med News Today:
"Lumps under the skin are less commonly result of cancer, but it is always safer to rule out potentially cancerous lumps with a doctors visit.
If the lump is a tumor, a prompt diagnosis is important for the best chances of successful treatment. If a lump under the skin is cancerous, it is likely to be a soft tissue sarcoma."
My sense is that it is not something malignant, but you should definitely get it checked out right away. Good luck and let us know how things go!

(9,955 posts)... it's probably not brain cancer. You'll feel better after the doctor tells you... I checked and thought I might have one! But it's the same on both sides. It's my skull...
I've never been a mobile phone fan. I finally bought one a couple years ago... but it make my left ear warm and red. It seems like regular phones could be held comfortably. Maybe I don't do it correctly...
Stay well and get yourself checked.

(32,676 posts)She is very nice. I opened my shirt and told her I have lots of moles and skin tags, but one does not look like the others. She pointed to it and said that one. I said yes and now I know you are not a robot. She is going to shave a little off and send it in to be safe.

(14,624 posts)Pilar cysts are benign growths of accumulated dead skin cells.
Before you make an appointment with a dermatologist, ask if the doctor usually removes them after diagnosis. Some dermatologists dont like to remove such a cyst. If it really bothers you, dont waste your time on a doctor who wont remove it. Find one who will.
But definitely get it checked out.

I have a ridge down the middle of my head i swear Ive had all my life and when I get dehydrated a bit, the ridge is more prominent. I rarely use my cell phone as a phone. Just keep an eye on it and mention it at next dr check up.
If youre like me I rarely go to the Dr except for my yearly and thats only because I need it for my MMJ card renewal.
