Ok, she's about 10 hours early, but I'll give her a little snack. I mean, who can say 'NO' to such a sweet face???

(26,333 posts)Lately the kittens have been hanging out right at the fence line. I put out a couple of bowls of wet/dry mix, a bowl of dry and refresh their water bowl. As soon as I walk back into the house, they come scampering in for their breakfast. Eventually Spooky will come by, too. It's just been so satisfying to watch them get healthier and a TINY bit more comfortable with my presence.

She truly is beautiful.

(26,333 posts)I grow it in my herb garden. And they've got a MASSIVE scratching tree, right by the food bowls, although we humans call it a Maple Tree.

(115,996 posts)The other day I bought some Blue Buffalo cat food because I wanted the larger cans, not the little ones like Fancy Feast comes in. I offered it to Mr. Cat for breakfast and he turned up his nose at it. And then he walked toward me and stopped just a few feet away. And looked me right in the eyes, looked at the door, then looked back at me. I got the hint, went back inside and brought out some Fancy Feast, which he promptly devoured. In the afternoon, when I went outside to do some gardening, Mr. Cat appeared from under the hostas, as he does, and I tried the Blue Buffalo again. He wouldn't touch it, again, and I had to bring him the Fancy Feast. I wouldn't think a stray would be a picky eater, but he is. Bought more Fancy Feast today...

(12,698 posts)Would have said kitty-crack, but there is some nutritional value to it.
The stinkier the better.

(24,129 posts)...the twin of Skittish. He was found by our sons while their college soccer team, from Carthage College in Kenosha WI, was on a pre-season out-of-state trip to San Antonio. The team was on their way back to their hotel after dinner, and found a tiny kitten with a hurt foot all alone on a cement footbridge. They looked around for any sign of a mom or litter mates - nothing. They took him back to their hotel. When no shelter was able to take him and told them if he was turned in, he would be euthanized, the team passed the hat and bought him an airline ticket back to Wisconsin. He was only about 4 weeks old, and weighed only 20 oz - 5 sticks of butter.
He has totally thrived, and turned out to be a big dude - 15+ pounds. Not fat, jut big. A real sweetheart. He is about to be 9 yrs old, and has lived with us for the last 7. He is a total sweetheart.
His name is Winston.
I was just watching Scooter attacking various sticks and stones in the back yard.
Skittish always seems to sense when I'm at the window. She'll turn and look at me, I suspect trying to message that a little more wet food mix would be most appreciated. Sorry, Skittish - that's breakfast.
She's started doing rollies, when she sees me watching her. Of course, if I'd approach, she'd probably get defensive so I just watch from a distance.
I'm going to make some feather teasers to see if I can get her, and/or the kittens, to engage.
