There Lie Monsters

I’ve never been a big fan of sci-fi or horror movies; I watched Star Wars and the Hobbit, but never Halloween or Freddie Krueger … just didn’t appeal to me. I think it had to do with Saturday morning tv as a kid watching B&W movies and a horror sci-fi type film maybe scarred me for life? I don’t remember the title, and barely the plot but maybe someone else will, and can identify it for me …
I think it involved space aliens, they were pretty gormless in form, sort of cloud like, grey and large like a cloud of fog. And if you came in contact with it, it got really bad, really fast. Humans would fall to the ground in conniptions and writhe and gasp, and their skin would peel off and their eyes would pop out, with various body fluid escaping all over their bodies as they died.
Scientist were called in to develop an anti-cloud serum that would protect humans much like a vaccine, I guess, and humans were clamoring to get the injections that would protect them from this nefarious alien cloud so that they could survive an encounter, which seemed inevitable as the alien cloud pretty much floated on the winds … and meant sure death if you met it.
Pretty much turned me off to sci-fi and scary films as a kid, would have been late 50’s or early 60’s … anyone else remember this film? I think it started with a C , maybe Cloud something, or maybe Fog o’ Death … or Deadly Breath from Space ?
Can’t remember but it sure stayed with me, buried in my subconsciousness…

as a kid, a space movie except there was a woman vampire on board, probably something they would have parodied on Mystery Science Theater 3000 now, but I remember checking the closet and under the bed for years....

The aliens hid these giant watermelon looking pods under the bed & when you fell asleep they took over your body & you lost all emotions.

So later I was out riding my bike home from somewhere after dark & I was sure I saw one of those pods in the bushes & I was afraid to go to sleep. I was afraid I'd wake up & not love my family any more. Tough couple of days.

It has a giant fog on a mountain. The creature decapitates it's victims. I don't think it is the movie that you are thinking of. I don't recall any movie that you are describing. I'm a big fan of sci-fi & horror movies (being born on Halloween probably helped). Hate slasher movies. Maybe it was made for TV?

But it’s been on my mind lately what would it have taken for COVID to be taken seriously worldwide, and not be turned into a political clusterfuck …
All I could come up with was if it was an alien invasion, the Deadly Breath from Space or some crap, and even then there probably been some willing to welcome an alien overlord sent to destroy us … we are screwn 😐
I really thought some would have called me out on it …

Oh well, return to the regular programming, I believe I’ll drink more and think less …

I was about 4 years old. My aunt was watching the Crawling Hand on tv. She left after a short while, turning off the tv. I had been watching it with her. I was too scared to turn the tv back on to watch the rest of the movie. The idea of an inanimate hand killing people was a bit terrifying to a four year old.
