The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsMittens and Scooter have fallen for my devious ploy
I keep moving one of the food bowls closer to the house. Two reasons - give them some space from Skittish, who can be a bit of a glutton, and to get them more and more accustomed to seeing me at a closer distance, and understanding I'm not a threat. This is the first time Scooter hasn't, well, scooted.

(13,634 posts)It's funny that she has a couple behavioral quirks because of being taken from her mom and siblings so early. She hisses and spits inappropriately. It's like at some point se realized she can make those sounds, but had no training on when to. She'll hiss or spit when she's not anywhere near riled up. It's easy to tell when that happens, she goes into a full on war kitty yowl!

(146 posts)It is a lot easier to tame them when they are young, our first group of cats were feral kittens whose mother would bring them to the pond to drink and we were able to tame them gradually. It is funny how feral cats who will eat almost anything will quickly become very picky about what you feed them.

(115,922 posts)My porch resident, Mr. Cat, likes Fancy Feast and will not eat Blue Buffalo. He also turns up his nose at dry food. And he likes pulled rotisserie chicken so much that he will almost take it from my fingers - he swats it from my hand.
