The mother of a friend is a State Supreme Court judge and she wanted to marry us and sentenced us to a life term. That reminds me that I need to file a parole report with her!
When my son was planning to ask his then-girlfriend to marry him, I offered the diamond from my mom's engagement ring that he could have reset into a setting more to her taste. My parents were married for a little over 50 years when they passed away. Later I told my DIL-to-be that the diamond came with a warranty that the marriage would last at least 50 years.
They've been married now for 10 years, and I still absolutely adore her.

(82,849 posts)They had a videographer, a diminutive Australian who was very personable and unobtrusive. He got a lot of good footage, and put together a nice videolog of the wedding and reception. At the reception, there was a lull in the action, and he was sitting behind the wedding cake, his camera on the other side, within reach of my new sister-in-law. The videographer was looking around, then, after a furtive glance, helped himself to a piece of cake. Naturally, nobody would have said no to him, but my sister-in-law was disappointed that his video camera was a bit too complex for a simple point-and-shoot to memorialize the moment.
She told him about it afterwards, and he got a big laugh out of it. He said that if she had figured out his camera and he came across the footage of him sneaking the cake, he would have cut it out. I would have demanded the footage.

(21,666 posts)after the rehearsal, I was so nervous about details that I gave the wrong rings to the best man and matron of honor.
So, during the ceremony, when it was time to exchange rings, the best man handed my husband's ring to him to put on my finger, which of course was way too big. We went through with it anyway, so my matron of honor handed me my ring to put on my husband's finger, which only fit on the tip.
After finishing the vows, when it was time to kiss, he whispered to me that we could switch on the way back down the aisle, which we did. Under the guise of romantically holding both of each other's hands, we slipped off the rings into each other's hands. At the back of the church in the reception line, before anyone reached us, we quickly put them on.
