The Perseids are coming!

One of the best meteor shower shows will peak next week Aug 11-13, but are already visible.

I was just outside tonight and saw one of the brightest and longest meteorites I've seen in a long time. So I came inside to look up the Perseids this year. It's going to be a good year without a bright moon to make seeing them easier.

Go outside in the next few days late at night and take a look!

facing south only because that's the widest view of the sky from my yard without street lights. It streaked top to bottom. Very bright and a long streak.

I've seen other meteorites from the yard in the last few weeks. Nothing like the one last night.

actually it was around 3:00 am, in about a half hour's time.
Tonight I believe we have the western wildfires' smoke to deal with. The brightest stars are visible, but everything else isn't.
Rats! I was counting on seeing them all the way until the 13th or so. Hopefully the wind will shift.

Next year there will be a full moon to contend with. ☹

I have a good vantage point as long as the smoke isn't too thick and there aren't clouds in the way.
