The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsMy latest pet peeve - and yes, it's absolutely trivial.
It's these videos that have these tendentious headlines using all caps to emphasize some word. For example:
Ted Cruz DESTROYED by CNN
White Man ARRESTED After Shooting Into Black Family's Home
Unhinged Karen Goes on INSANE School Board Rant
Laura Ingraham and Dinesh D'Souza OUTED Gay Students at Dartmouth, Leading to Suicide, Allegedly
Trump UNHINGED Calls For Resignation Over Taliban
This is not the doing of the posters; it's the way the makers of the videos write their headlines, and which tend to promise a lot more than they deliver (CNN did not "destroy" Ted Cruz, though I wish they would). It's stylistically irritating and it bugs me.

(46,125 posts)If that's the headline, that's what I want to see. I want to see Ted Cruz being destroyed by CNN, not someone commenting on a video from Afghanistan. The one that finally got me was "Manchin HUMILIATED on live TV."
There was not one second of humiliation or even embarrassment, just two people who consider their opinions important going on and on about how Manchin is terrible.
I don't think this is trivial at all. I think it's irritating as all hell. And I resent DU being used by these "pundits" to get clicks and eyeballs for their shtick.

(51,074 posts)blocked those posters. Hate to do it, but it's just advertising for some internet commentator that I don't have any interest in.

(86,889 posts)Are normally going to be someone like David Packman or Ring of Fire or someone like that, I usually only look at those if I'm really bored and there are only a couple I would watch at that. I see the all caps word, like a red flag, and I know it is old news and I probably don't need to look at someone rant about it.
Reminds me of a joke told by Roy Wood Jr. who said;
"Y'all want to get rid of the confederate flag but, if you get rid of it, how am I supposed to know who all the dangerous white folk are?"
