sleeps right on the floor instead of up high. I guess being king of the mountain that cats like goes out the window when you a furball and it is 96 degrees outside.

(37,648 posts)unless it's pretty warm. I have to worry about her more in the winter.
My cocker spaniel, who is heat sensitive, pants a lot, if it's the slightest bit warm. So I lock him up in "momma's bedroom" during the day, where I have a window a/c to keep it cooler than rest of the house, AND I keep the ceiling fan on. Just to make sure he's comfortable.
I also use satin cotton sheets on the bed, with no coverlet, because it's cooler than even a cotton lightweight coverlet, which is what MY preference would be.
What can I say? I love 'em. They're rescues. They deserve to have a good life.

(28,394 posts)Two of them love to eat ice cubes. Every time I open the freezer door, they come scampering for ice.
The third one sleeps on the bathroom floor, with her back against the tub.
They have thick coats so they go out and back in as quickly as possible.

(6,581 posts)It's out and right back in. Whereas in cooler times of the year, I often have to physically drag him back in.
Since the house is small and this is Michigan, where in a normal year it often isn't hot many days, I don't have central air, just a large window unit. He sleeps mostly in that room anyway, on the couch or in his fold-up kennel in the corner, so cool isn't an issue.

(30,947 posts)all day so they do not have to deal with the heat. They are small dogs and do their business on pee pads. But they do go out on a leash in the afternoon.

(23,272 posts)paddles around a bit and then jumps out. She's also the one who sticks her whole face into water bowls and blows bubbles.
The other one loves to jump in the creek. Sometimes he'll follow his sister into the trough but usually he's my creek dog.
My older mutt loves to snap at the sprinkler water like she's trying to catch it and drink it. Mostly though she cools off by staying in the AC on the bathroom tile floor.

(16,334 posts)the lab is skinny and cold natured. She has a blanket year round and I have been tempted to get her a snuggie. She will glare at us if we don't cover her up! And she'll snuggle the other dog when she's really desperate.
