Fans of "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood" may want to consider reading the book.

Quentin Tarantino’s first novel is, to borrow a phrase from his oeuvre, a tasty beverage.

It’s his novelization of his own 2019 film “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood” (the book’s title omits the ellipsis). It’s been issued in the format of a 1970s-era mass-market paperback, the sort of book you used to find spinning in a drugstore rack.

It’s got a retro-tacky tagline: “Hollywood 1969 … You shoulda been there!” If it weren’t so plump, at 400 pages, you could slip it into the back pocket of your flared corduroys.

Tarantino isn’t trying to play here what another novelist/screenwriter, Terry Southern, liked to call the Quality Lit Game. He’s not out to impress us with the intricacy of his sentences or the nuance of his psychological insights.

I started it last evening with the movie still fresh in my mind. Recalling the film’s characters and actor portrayals really brings the book to life.

Thanks! Im ordering it now.
Lived in LA for a time and was so nostalgic watching that film it permeated my dreams. As in hanging out on a patio with Cliff. My husband and I went as Rick Dalton and Sharon Tate for Halloween.

I couldnt get over how cool he made it look. I know he romantized it, but i kept going back into the theater to be immersed.

I'm sure he doesn't want to give too much away.

I especially LOVED him on WTF with Marc Maron. He and Marc really enjoy each other and I learned things about Q.T. I didn't know. I highly recommend those who are Q.T. fans to listen.

I'll buy the book with one of my upcoming birthday gift cards from Barnes & Noble..

Thanks for your input!
