Any Drs out there having surgery next week

L4-5,L5-S1 LAMINECTOMY, L4-5 INSTRUMENTATION, POSTERIOR INTERBODY FUSION, POSTERIOR LATERAL FUSION.......How long should I expect to be in the hospital and out of work?

1. I had L5-S1 discectomy

Twice, if I needed a 3rd I would have had fusion surgery… been lucky so far
But I was in I think 5 days the first, and 3 the second, mainly I knew what to expect second go round … get off pain killers, get the catheter out, and complete circuit of hospital floor I was on unaided …
The fusion should be more difficult so ymmv … I’m sure your surgeon would just want to see you up and ambulatory as a good sign

2. I had L-5/S-1 discectomy with fusion and went home the next morning.

How long you are out of work will depend to a large degree on what type of work you do. I couldn't lift, bend over or sit for more than 15 minutes for a couple of weeks.

Good luck! I consider that surgery the best thing I ever had done for me.

3. I had L4/L5 laminectomy

I think I was off work about two weeks.
