I think Salome is Lillith. And she is the one who has transcended. If she released Russell, who believes vampires should embrace their primal selves and she cried when Meloni was staked, (who believed in mainstreaming vampires), then she has a plan of her own. One that she may have needed Russell to clear the way for her, because she was too close to her own children to do it herself.

Meloni was too much of a one dimensional character to survive. He did his job. We were all ga-ga, patiently waiting for his character to develop in a role that just needed us to tag along for five shows.

Robert Pattinson was given movie credits for two Harry Potter movies when he was killed off in the first movie he appeared: Goblets of Fire. He played the role of Cedric. In the movie that followed, he just appeared in a memorium photograph and a memory clip of how he died in the previous movie, yet you'll find his movie credits listed as two HP movies.

TB writers have a tendency to set things up for future episodes. Just a few weeks earlier that kid vampire was staked by Roman and he just exploded to smithereens. But at the end of this week's TB Roman was staked but he didn't explode - his face just kinda changed.

Could be interesting!

BTW I need more of Alfre Woodard. Only could an Alan Ball series with Woodard rolling the lines could someone get away with dropping the F-word (the gay slur) and all that 'Gays rot in hell'. A lessor show that would have come across very homophobic but the way it was written and delivered by Alfre (with Lala (Lafayette) listening to this rant) does it really work.

She took what was originally written as a bit part and turned it into one of the best things about the show.

I didn't realize but Alfre Woodard got a guest star nomination at the emmys last year for TB.

Watching the previews I think we're gonna see Denis O'Hare really shine. You know who he reminds me of - Barry Weiss from Storage Wars. The aging hipster that everyone thinks is super cool.

is dead, but that his body is now going to be animated by Lilith?

I finally got a chance to see the new episode and a few things jumped out at me.

From Nora, is seems clear that there is some sort of prophecy/plan about the return of Lilith that has been put in play with Roman's murder. It also appears that they needed Russell (or a vamp of his abilities/tendencies) to get close enough to Roman to successfully "kill" him, thus triggering the prophecy/plan. Taking over the top spot in the authority would give the Lilith/ the Sanguinistas (sp?) unlimited power/opportunity to destroy the Out of the Coffin movement. They made a point of showing us the blood that is allegedly Lilith's -- and Roman celebrated Russell's capture with jug of very old blood that tasted funny to him. My guess is Lilith's blood was put in the jug by Salome as part of the plan. Also, Roman didn't turn into a pile of goo like vamps do when staked -- he bled a bit and was somehow physically changing, but my guess is Lilith's blood protected the body enough to allow her spirit to inhabit it.

Besides, there is no way in hell they would hire someone like Meloni then kill him off before he had a chance to do something magnificent as an actor and before the end of the season.

They have, what, 2 years left in the series -- we are being set up for the all out war between humans and supes. It's gonna be a fun ride.

But some good opinions.

I have to agree that it's been too soon to off a character by Christopher Meloni. If this was a short-stint they could have found plenty of bit actors to play that part. Meloni makes Roman seem powerful but that guy who plays Dieter could have made Roman look creepy or they could have had the guy who played Kibwe and Roman would have worked but a different look. But the thing is this - you could have offed Dieter or Kibwe and fans probably wouldn't have missed them but to off Roman, played by a big name like Christpher Meloni, well that was odd.

There is more than meats the eye!
