Well, the kittens enjoyed their expanded play area, today

I blocked off the exits and let them loose in the den. I don't know who had more fun - the kittens or me. The actually wore themselves out and are now snoozing, hopefully until dinner time. It is so amazing to watch them develop new skills, and to have them stop by for a scritch and a kiss, before they head out to play some more.

A few pics

They look about 4-5 weeks old. That gray one is so pretty! 😍 Well that black one is too! And the black and white so pretty too. Nice family. Is mom doing OK? Or not in the picture.

Mom is a feral. I took the kittens before she could move them away somewhere. I'm becoming overrun with ferals and have to start taking steps to rescue and TNR.

All of the kittens are at the same stage of development, despite the size differences. I took them right to my vet, and he estimated them at 4 weeks, and that was almost 3 weeks ago. He was surprised at how the two smaller ones were so active and alert, which is why I suspect Squeaky (the black one) is simply the 'runt'. At this point, he can hold his own with his bigger sisters (the grays) and slightly bigger brother.

They are now weaned and on wet/dry mix food (mostly wet) and doing great.

I'll take them in for vaccinations, next week. Then the black and one of the grays will be moving to Chicago and the black/white and the other gray will be staying with me.

Before covid hit, I was TNRing ferals where I live. Got 19 spay/neutered and released back to the group that I feed. Rescued 11 kittens and adopted 3 myself. I work with a group called It's Meow or Never in Tallahassee. I still have a few more cats to go, but it really helped the situation a lot.

If we ever get through this latest with all the idiots who won't get vaccinated, I'm going to start up again.

Good luck with the babies.
