Lots of celeb deaths today. "7 Habits" Stephen COVEY, not a favorable memory of him

There was a workplace craze for that first book of his. I wasn't impressed. It was like a lot (most?) of self-help, and the franchise he followed up with, 7 habits of This-and-That, convinced me it's all a matter of finding a profitable "hook" or formula.

My employer paid a pretty penny per capita to send us (hundreds of us) to one of his appearances. There were actually maybe a thousand or more attendees, since other employers were involved. The dude was barking ugly orders at his assistant who was switching the slides. COVEY would bark, "NEXT!1" or, if the switching took too long, "NEXT SLIDE, NEXT!1" When he paused for questions from the audience, somebody said, "Could you please say 'please' and 'thank you' to (name of the assistant)?" and the audience applauded.

I soon dumped my copy of his book into the deposit box of my public library.
