The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsOn this cold, dark, drizzly morning, I finally heard Mittens the Kitten's 'Meow!!'
I was setting the food bowls down so I could free my hands to unlock and open the door, so I was pretty much face to face with Mittens, on the other side of the window. She let out a LOUD greetings. Well, probably more of a command to hurry up and feed them. Which I did so that they could eat and then get back to their shelter. It's not a rain as much as a light sprinkle but it's also only 44 degrees.
Spooky has now joined Skittish, Scooter and Mittens, for every meal but I haven't seen Bruiser in a while, now.

(8,209 posts)One of my former ferals had a beginning very much like Mittens: she was a feral kitten who hung out in my yard and who gradually allowed me to get closer and closer when I fed her. She was close to six months old before I was able to bring her inside. It took another six months, but now she likes to hang out on the couch with Mr. Femmedem and me for snuggles.

(31,117 posts)He is very affectionate and shows up for breakfast and lunch at my deck door every day. I have a little house for him outside on the deck. Any suggestions on outdoor pet house heaters? I think it would be cute to put little solar panels on the roof. Sounds like Mittens is going to turn out to be like my yard kitty. Be patient. It took a couple of years, but he never bites or hisses at me. Never has. Hes very sweet.
Most pet shops or online pet stores sell heated cat beds that we have used in shelters (small doghouse) for outdoor cats that you can plug in if you have exterior outlets.
