(2,815 posts)I just read an article about the new meth being extra toxic. An unintended consequence of banning ephedra. Now there are mega labs in Mexico and they've innovated making it from unregulatable chemicals. The process yields a product w impurities tgat hasten psychosis. Its also way cheeper.
Yet another Drug War win for death, suffering and increased illicit profit and street level chaos.

Apparently not.

(66,361 posts)Last week, Mrs. Aristus' clinic was locked down due to a multiple shooting in the neighborhood. Four dead, and they still haven't found the guy.
Mrs. Aristus is all right, and was never in any real danger.

(24,731 posts)Yes - tragic!!
I got a really bad feeling over there, I hate to say. I've ADORED Seattle for the over 40 years I've lived here - moving here from declining urban areas in the Northeast US.
Seattle looks like shit. Ugly graffiti everywhere - I'm sorry; I'm old school that way. It evinces an anger and kids having been ignored. I don't blame them. Also, the filthy homeless camps. Again - not all their "fault" - the result of a society that doesn't give a rat's ass about their neediest, while shipping $$$ to billionaires.
The litter, decay, is horrific.
AND I couldn't even get a decent cup of coffee in SEATTLE till about afternoon on Sunday.
Very sad.
I feel like TFG and his cult broke America. I am not optimistic.
Sorry...don't mean to vent and hopefully I'm not saying anything hurtful. I guess I just need to understand that this is a normal part of aging - feeling / seeing things going downhill, "not the way we USED to do it."
School me..if I'm wrong.
Take care, Aristus and Mrs. Aristus. Stay safe.

(66,361 posts)I don't know if the guy was homeless or not. But it's sad that people might be led to think: "Homeless people, amirite?"
I love my homeless patients, and prefer them far above mainstream patients.

(29,067 posts)I find it appalling that a country as rich as ours even has a 'homeless problem"..As you might know, in this country, it didn't even exist as a phenomenon until
the Reagan Administration, early to mid 1980's.

(66,361 posts)Do you have the snifters?
My opinion regarding brandy - Snifters, yes; heating it, no.
niyad
(113,303 posts)I admit that I love the ritual of warming the snifters. On the other hand, I once had a bartender ice my snifter! I, very politely, explained that he would NOT be serving my brandy in that snifter. Later, I had a little chat with the bar manager, suggesting that perhaps some further training was in order, and offering my services. Since he knew me, he assured me that my services would not be needed.

(50,271 posts)food co-op spotted a guy parading up the road with an offensive sign and a weapon. Cops talked to him, but open carry is allowed in Vermont and even whackos have their free speech. Very disconcerting though. It doesn't happen often in this neck of the woods.
