A pretty famous person's son is the singer of this band, so lets play a guessing game!

Please put answers/guesses in your response, not the subject line when you reply

So, who is the singer of this band ... the son of?

Hint: it's not Jeff Buckley, though he totally looks more like Jeff to me than the famous parent.

If you don't figure it from that song, this one might make it more obvious

But he also has a bit his "famous parent", at least on one of that famous parents bands early album covers. (Trying real hard not to give it away lol)

Spotify was spinning 'em up just cause it's a genre I often listen to ... at a certain point it just clicked ... dang this singer sounds like ... his dad ... and I went and looked it up and went YUP!

Since then listened to the record a few times. Like 75% of the songs are really good, and the others are at least decent. Solid debut!

But think ... it's more 'voice' than 'looks'.

Esp. in the 2nd song.

But since I don't listen to rock bands at all any more I wouldn't know from the voice, didn't watch the videos for that reason.

Just saying age-wise, Bob's son Jakob (who's 52) would be the more likely candidate as father of someone in this band ... he'd be Bob's grandkid IOW

But that's not who it is.

You do know OF the parent in play here though, even if you don't listen to rock bands anymore

I cheated and looked it up. So the second song has a slight hint or two but you'd have to know what they are.

Interesting, though. I listened to the second video and I like it.

It's interesting, sometimes I like a song first by just hearing it w/o video, other songs I hate until I see the video. Several songs were more appealing to me before I saw the video but the one example of hating a song until I saw the visuals provided by the artist was "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of These)" by the Eurythmics.

I'll check out the album, these guys have some slick licks that I like along with a traveling beat, totally worth looking into.

The guitars "soaring and shrieking" are U-2ish.

If they don't want to be U-2-II, they might need to tone that aspect down. Very arena, not pub band.

to U2 ... without the voice.

For example they don't lean that much on Edge's delay-drenched guitar style, and they use a lot of keyboards (which are rare on U2 songs).

Agree on the arena-ready sound in general but musically to me they're more reminiscent of The Killers or Florence and the Machine.

If you made me pick though, I'd say the rhythm section is more Adam/Larry ... than the guitarist is Edge-y.

I actually dig all their playing though, it's not just Eli ... I think these guys are damn good honestly.

For my tastes.

MHO, YMMV.
