MOUNT SIDNEY, Va. - After taking last year off during the height of the pandemic, a family in Mount Sidney has brought back a beloved holiday tradition.
The James family sets up more than 200 inflatable Christmas decorations in their front yard. During the day, the yard looks a little sad with deflated decorations, but when the sun starts to set, the inflatables wake up.
The first inflatables came when Johns son Spenser was just 3 years old. Cheerful, amazing. I love inflatables, Spenser, who is now 17, said.
Each year we started to buy a few more here and there, especially after the Christmas sales, John stated. We have 211 out now. We have another 113 in the garage that we never got out this year.

(47,564 posts)Every square foot of their front and side yard contain huge inflatables.
It is a bit much in my opinion.
I do like the really big one with four reindeer eating food out of a trough.
Their heads bob up and down as they eat.

(10,020 posts)all the MAGATS' hot air goes. I feel fairly safe saying that, since I am a tiny blue dot in a big red area. That place is not far down the road from me, about 30 miles. And think of all the $$ that could have gone to feed people instead.

She is small potatoes by comparison. I would say she may have 25 or 30 of those things but we do have small front yards here so it is very crowded. Her daughter lives across the street and she has maybe 10. They do this for her grandbaby across the street and the 9 adopted special needs kids. I know they have fun putting them up
In this case, I do know for a fact that these are both hard core Democratic families. The lady with the larger collection spends the entire voting period (early and on election day) driving senior voters to the polls and she completely wiped out my stash of voter registration forms.
During election season her inflatables are replaced by political signs.
There is a smaller Halloween group, Easter and a big turkey for Thanksgiving.
