Im vaxxed and boosted. Yay me.
I think I have covid. Or a bad cold. Some covid symptoms. Bunch of cold symptoms.
Apart from just taking care of myself, should I do anything special? Of course, if symptoms indicate that I should visit the er, I will. Right now, though, I just feel crappy. Nothing that Aleve and antihistamines cant deal with.
This seems like something that should be evident but it dawned on me that inthe absence of serious complications there really was nothing I should do.
I thought about getting tested, but thst really wouldnt change anything. If Im just having moderate symptoms I can take care of myself. SBDC if I begin to have problems I go to the er. Testing doesnt change anything.

(18,402 posts)Also, quarantine for the specified period. Test again, and if negative, still lay low for a few more days just to be sure youre not spreading it to others.
You should test because the health officials need to know the real positivity numbers, the symptoms, the rate of recovery, etc. They need this to understand and control the virus.

(20,211 posts)They say that Omicron symptoms can be so mild in folks who are vaccinated and boosted, that probably half of the people who are walking around with the sniffles probably have Omicron. I have 2 toddlers in my extended family who are too young to be vaxxed, as well as a 93 year old aunt. I spent Christmas at home and ate nice meals my roommates prepared sitting at the coffee table. Oddly enough, their nephew came over on Sunday, even though he had been I'll since Wednesday, he said he was feeling better, but SURPRISE, he has COVID. So I finally found a drive thru test about 24 hours ago. Hoping to get results soon.

(29,219 posts)and I will impart the one bit of advice... I'm not a doctor but I did have Covid...
get a blood oxygen meter and measure your blood oxygen... like every hour. If it dips to 90 or below... prepare to go to the ER. Call your doctor.

(22,757 posts)had driven to Michigan to see my brother... woke at 3am Sunday am with chills, sore throat, general yuck... I packed up and waited for my brother to wake at 7 and said goodbye... thought it might be Covid and I didn't want to continue to infect his family.... was able to get tested Tuesday (21st) came back negative but it sure felt like something big... just rested and hydrated (along with Emergencies ) feeling better
get tested if you can, but generally the advice the CDC gives is rest, hydrate, stay home
Get well soon!!!

(7,636 posts)You should get tested so that 1) you know if you have to quarantine and 2) if you test positive, the medical community will have better information to track the spread and deploy scarce resources.
It's still a fucking pandemic even if we have been living with its various incarnations for two years.

Nov. 16 felt fine. Next day some mild symptoms of 'something'. The 20th, drove to the close-by hospital ER. Forget urgent cares. Need to make an appt. So messed up. Echogram, chest x-ray, swab. This girl stoops down in front of me, "Sweetie, you have covid." I nearly fell out. No doctor or anyone saying anything further. Waited and seeing her again, I go give me printout. I want to go home. Took aspirin/Tylenol. My PCP ordered prednisone. Thxgiving Day, neighbor buddy, a saving grace, texted me. "We're in front, ambulance here, unlocking front door, they're taking you to the hospital. Got pumped full of antibiotics and what else. I wasn't out of it, but the extreme unbearable fatigue plays with your head.
3-4 days ICU. No oxygen. My levels were always around 95-96. Then put in a 'covid' room. I will not go into my experience there. 26 days. Then transported to a so-called rehab/ nursing facility. Had I researched it b4 being sent there, I would have refused. The place needs to be shut down. 11 days there then home. Got home a week ago yesterday. I am short of breath when I overdo. 3 of 4 meds from hospital I refused in facility. Anxiety, GERD, one to help you sleep. Diltiazem for AFIB, which the filthy virus most likely brought on.
I've had viral infections, upper and lower respiratory infections, UTIs. There is nothing that comes close to this horrific, demonic, disgusting disease. There's not enough bad words to describe it.

I don't see on any of my reports what version they believe I contracted.
Thanx for heartfelt...

(5,271 posts)I called around and went online to multiple testing sites in my area but earliest appt I could get was next Monday. But in case my symptoms worsen I definitely want to know to be prepared. I am boostered and so far just have symptoms of head cold- sinus drainage, congestion, runny nose, sneezing etc. and no known Covid exposure.
Took vitamins today and alka seltzer with aspirin and staying hydrated and resting at home quarantining. Also gargling with mouthwash that has cetypyridinium chloride to which I add some hydrogen peroxide since gargling always helps me avoid sore throats (I still have tonsils and am prone to tonsil stones if I don't gargle daily)

(9,075 posts)on all of his tests but his doctor said it was most likely an Omicron breakthrough.
The testing isn't necessarily picking up Omicron for various reasons.
The high viral level may be short lived or not strong enough to detect.
He was tested daily but the viral load could have been highest before the exposure was announced.
The immune response may kick in with fever and runny nose issues. He felt pretty crappy but the worst of it only lasted two or three days.

(9,075 posts)His company was an early adopter of major protocols and they have required weekly testing since the very beginning.
I think they do it every few days per week and have moved to daily again.
I finally got around to planning to get a Covid test. That was a chore, especially over the holiday..
Pharmacies - no appointments.
Urgent Care place - Walk-in. So I walk in. No more that day - this was Dec 30. So I ask if I can make an appointment. We don't take appointments. So I go there on Jan 1. The line is out the door - Covid tests? I then find out I can request a particular time - but that's not an appointment. But it doesn't matter. No dates/times available. Sheesh.
Check with the local hospital. No tests until today. I scheduled one for tomorrow.
Okay, may I should have checked with the hospital first, but it really shouldn't be this difficult.
Symptoms - mainly cold symptoms - some minor coughing, sinus congestion. A few aches and pains, no fever. Lost sense of taste over the weekend. Then it came back a little, then it was gone again. Weird. Very strange to eat things that don't taste like anything.
Testing tomorrow. We'll see how things go.
If it's Covid - I'll know on Wednesday - it's interesting that with the vaccines and booster, it's more of an annoyance than anything else. Sure beats being intubated and running the risk of dying. You know, this is not a difficult concept to grasp. The fact the millions of Americans can't quite understand defies belief, logic, etc.
Annoying cold. Risk of dying. Should be an easy decision. And even if it's not Covid, it's interesting to see how the mind works during a pandemic.
