FI, Their lovely Sumatran using the mechanical depulping process which leaves some of the fruit still attached ads funky chocolate notes when roasted to a darkish state properly (2nd crack) producing an earthy cup with very little acidity.

(17,986 posts)It is funny how tastes change over the years. Remember when they had coffee grinders in the stores, or are you old enough? Nothing has matched the aroma, taste of A& P fresh ground coffee.
I have tried everything, gone through all the new fads.
Have now gone back to my 6 cup Presto Perk. My old 8 cup was 40 years old before it showed down. Presto pressure cooker, older. I just gave away a combo Electric pressure, slow cooker.

(7,633 posts)Although I was a young kid I seem to recall You would bring your bag of whole beans up there to the checkout counter and theyd grind it right there and then. Nothing fresher than that and like you said - the aroma OMG!!
Ive got one of those all in one pressure cookers too, the one where you can sauté and brown stuff in the bottom and then close it up to either pressure or slow cook. Its great for stews or pot roasts.
I really should use it more often.

(45,452 posts)people who live in tea growing regions can get fresh whole leaves that aren't even dried and brew them. It tastes completely different. That's common in China, Japan, etc.
In India, they often add a lot of spices, milk, and sugar for masala chai.

(3,395 posts)For those migraine sufferers, two things will do away with those nasty headaches, one is coffee, and the other one is bread.
So bring joy to your life migraine sufferers by giving up coffee, and bread...Then any type of tea (even green tea) with one small spoon of honey will give you so much joy that you will ask yourself why you stuck with coffee for so long. Lets face it, coffee and American coffee for that matter, doesn't taste good. I have never tasted anything more horrific than folders coffee, and all those coffees in offices, McDonalds, etc. it is as close as drinking hot dirty water...that is just my opinion.
If you love coffee then give up office or machine made coffee, instead buy a percolator (see link below) and some South American coffee, if you can find Venezuelan coffee then get it (Colombian coffee is a myth), it is by far the best because it comes from different parts of the country, it is a blend, it is strong but smooth at the same time then, like I said, take the time to use a percolator, that will double your joy of drinking coffee. Another coffee that is very good, is called "Santo Domingo" (see link below), but you will need what? a percolator.

Tea on the other hand...almost any tea is good. I do prefer rich, strong black tea, but there are some green teas that are really good. My DIL gave me a ginger-lemon green tea that is just amazing...

(329 posts)I used to drink multiple cups of coffee throughout the day when I was still working. Now I have reduced it to one cup of Columbian blend, black and no sugar. My dentist said that it's a no no for me because my teeth are so porous and it stains them terribly. SO I reduced it to one cup in the morning while I'm catching up on the early news. I also drank tea for many years but that's even worse than coffee so that's out. I also gave up my evening glass of wine. What's left now that I'm almost 77??
My Mother lived to be 92 and she drank tea all day long, with (a) glass of scotch and milk when the sun was over the yard arm. The only reason she left us so early is that one day when she was going upstairs to read her email with her scotch and milk she remembered that she left her reading glasses downstairs. Instead of turning around and walking back down, she backed down the stairs, missed the last step and fell at the bottom of the stairs. She was in the hospital for 3 months, developed sepsis and died there, never returning home. Sad part is that she never got to drink her scotch and milk! Moral of the story is: drink whatever you like, it may be your last!

(989 posts)Maybe it's just because I'm Chinese, but it's green tea all the way. Coffee just doesn't do it for me; I don't even like the smell of ut.
And for those who think green tea is weaksauce, you clearly haven't tried the extremely bitter stuff that would put the darkest of coffees to shame.
