I really think it has potential, but I could do without the voice over diary and the glaring error regarding the oxen vs horses at the start was rather silly.

And you need one in this subject line as well! You just spoiled me here! People may be at different points in the viewing experience, especially when shows are streaming. Including the words *SPOILER ALERT* before you mention a major plot event is considered a common courtesy. I was really enjoying this show, too, but I am not at the same viewing point as you, so I have now been spoiled for feeling what you felt when you saw this happen. I am so disappointed

Apology accepted. It IS a great show, and evidently, is getting a lot of buzz and viewers nationwide. All good!

my only grump is that it's a new series and we have to wait a week (or more) between shows

also I have decided that if I were alive back then,,,, I probably would not have made it any further West than Ohio,,,, I do love my 'creature comforts".

Reminds me of an episode--years ago--when I could not get my hot water heater either serviced or replaced for four weeks. I had to turn off the hot water and gas and boil water, carrying it upstairs to the shower every damned time. That's when having one of those enormous wheeled insulated coolers comes in really handy because even being conservative, it takes 10-15 gallons to wash/rinse your hair and bathe and heaven forbid if you are trying to color your hair~LOL.

The writing and acting in Deadwood was some of the best ever on tv. Milch is unparalleled at dialogue and when you look at the careers of actors who first made an impression on Deadwood - like Olyphant, Bell, Dillahunt and Hawkes - they are way above anything on this show. McGraw is ok but Hill is not an actress. Sorry, but that's my take.
