In 2001 through 2007 I made several trips to the Netherlands. I always stayed in Amsterdam but went on quite a few guided tours through the Dutch and Belgian countryside. I'm pretty sure Volendam is one of the Dutch towns the tours took us to. That whole country is literally picture-postcard pretty, which is why I kept going back there for repeated visits.
