Monarch butterflies typically live from 2 to 6 weeks except for the last generation of the year, which can live up to 8 to 9 months.

through the area of South Dakota I was living in back in1996. I was in total awe.

I checked and yes, the Eastern Monarchs are found from the East Coast west to The
Rocky Mountains and they do travel through South Dakota.

Thanks for the very pleasant memory.
