How many people at the Daytona 500 will be pulling for this car/driver?

HBCU's have not been featured on too many NASCAR vehicles in the past.

I will be there all day tomorrow due to circumstances beyond my control. Hope it does well.

As an old guy, I'm excited to see him run in this one-off.

Have fun tomorrow. I was at the last race in Daytona in October. That first green flag is something to behold.

Sure, there'll be a lot of deplorables there. Leave politics in the car and have a good time. I do think NASCAR is trying to get things right, finally.

I predicted when NASCAR banned Confederate flag and backed Bubba, that contrary to popular belief it would be a plus for them. I predicted that black people with money would come into NASCAR. Look at what has happened Jordan, Mayweather and HBCUs. Just the tip. More new diverse fans.

the idea that southern whites are the only (or even the major) fans of motor sports - is pretty much belied by simple observation and everyday experience. A welcoming environment will doubtlessly pay dividends.

However the right to numbers is usually held
pretty tightly by teams. think I'll research the history of that number.

Terry Labonte wore that number for years. Among others Rex White, Curtis Turner and David Reutiman drove #44 in Nascar. Perhaps that number was in limbo and was chosen as you suggested. Perhaps we will find out.
