they can't add 15 and 14 without a calculator. My husband just got a hell of a discount on an item at the store because Z couldn't figure out the % off correctly. I was in a similar situation some years back and I kept trying to explain it to the kid so finally the guy waiting to check out behind me said just give her what she said. He gave up as did I. Paid and left, shaking my head all the way back to the car.

tell them what the price should be, and if that doesn’t work, I take the gift and run.

And God forbid they should have to make change without the register telling them what it should be. This is addition and subtraction, folks; maybe multiplication at times. How did they get out of elementary school without learning this stuff?

out there. My SO told me that.

An example would be that my favorite drink is a decent Bloody Mary (when I rarely have one) and you wouldn't believe the number of places I'll go to, to just hunt out a decent Bloody Mary that suits my taste. I finally found a place but the only reason that is that the bartender used to work at the place that made my particular Bloody Mary's before they closed (and she knows how to make them).

Pour vodka or gin over ice in a glass.

Add a couple of drops of dry vermouth.

Stir.

Drink..

Repeat.

"The Thermodynamics of a good Martini".

I calculated that the way Martinis are made in bars, 26% dilution takes place. I had an opportunity to explain this concept to a Bar Tender once and she was not interested.

However, it’s always bothered me that Charle thought that On Her Majesty’s Secret Service was the best Bond film. Although it is one of Ian Fleming’s finer novels, it’s a weak film because George Lazenby was not very good as Bond and Telly Savales was terrible as the evil Blofeld. Charlie could have chosen better. From Russia With Love is not only a better film but it stars the best Bond (Sean Connery), a great villain (Robert Shaw) and follows Fleming’s novel very closely.

they dump in too much olive brine when they make a dirty martini.

I just want a very small splash. I gave up ordering one out without having to explain that.

I've got the gin, and a bottle of Glenfiddich. My favorite single-malt is Lagavulin, but the Glenfiddich was a gift, so I drink it. It's lovely. It's nowhere near as peaty as Lagavulin (people either love the peat or hate it; there's no in-between.), and more smoky, so it should be perfect.
