And also my mom’s. We were both born on May 12. We want to say we went backwards a year in age. Wish it could work that way.

10. At some point, the perspective changes

At some point, it’s no longer, “hey, one more year and I’m gonna be—!” but rather, “Oh, no, I’m already —, and in another year, I’ll be—!”

I just crossed one of those thresholds in March (70), and next month, it’s my wife’s turn. But the shock wears off, and life goes on (one hopes!).
