(2,860 posts)2. I rescued a baby duck once.
It was about 20 years ago. I used to have an apartment that was on a lake where a bunch of ducks lived. I was out walking my dog one night when we came across a lone baby duck near the side of a busy road. We chased it around a parking lot for a few minutes until it got too tired to run. I scooped the baby up and brought it home. When I got home I saw a mother duck with a bunch or babies in our back yard. I think this was actually the baby's mother as it perked up and practically flew out of my hands to catch up with mom and the other siblings. The sad part is that most of them don't survive. I guess that's why they have so many babies all at once.
