I first saw John Lithgow back in I don't know if it was early 80s or late 70s in a Hallmark Hall of Fame production (no, not Hallmark Channel) when they aired good dramas about 4 times a year. It was called Resting Place and I don't know if you can find it on a streaming channel or DVD. He played the Army officer accompanying the remains of a fallen soldier from Vietnam to his family and to assist with the burial. The fallen soldier was a black officer and there were problems in that his mother had been gifted with a burial plot in the white cemetery and the town had laws against that. There was such good acting in that movie and after that when I saw Lithgow in Third Rock and many of his others I always watched. Unfortunately I never saw him on Broadway.
