Y: The Last Man. Some thoughts.

Series about a pandemic and a world ruled by women because the men die off suddenly and quickly because of an airborne contagion that strikes like ebola. All men are gone, except for one.

The show's source material was a comic series that is more than ten years old. First season was aired in 2021, but canceled before the first season ended. Maybe because this version came out during Covid, it may have cost too much to commit to a second season because of the need for extensions to hold onto the main actors. Diane Lane has top billing and plays the role of President.

The first season had some really great opportunities to see a world without men, and the kind of political posturing that would occur if women were in charge. I don't think they fully took advantage of that opportunity, but it did get one thing right. The power struggle that occurs between Republicans and Democrats would continue.

Oh, and I'm only through the second episode but I can already figure out where the only surviving male got his immunity. He has a pet Capuchin monkey which probably bit him and passed on the salving grace.

I kind of hope that it gets picked up by a streaming service for a second season. Wonder what everyone else who saw it thinks about that.
