This morning I watched the Olympics and the events were all live including the Gold Medal finals for Men's Tennis. It was wonderful to know that the event was fresh, it was happening as I saw it on TV and nowhere was there a spoiler (which btw I won't post any spoilers here either)
The only time you can really watch live events with this Olympics is during the afternoon but since I'm a 9-5er only the weekends I can watch any afternoon events.
I realize that the Olympics should be shared around the globe but when it's countries that are several hours ahead of us to half a day like Beijing, there's a bit of thrill lost knowing that you know the outcome.
Rio is only an hour ahead of us so you know there will be plenty of live events telecast! I can't wait!

(26,606 posts)devious plan in the works to fuck it all up. They'll probably just show all live Olympic events as inset windows during one of their prison shows, or something...

(27,677 posts)so I have no reason to expect that they won't do the same with Rio de Janeiro.
The gold medal hockey match was saved for prime time on NBC. I saw it live on CNBC I think.

(27,677 posts)Not because of the time zone but because it's a more exotic location than London. I like to be exposed to different cultures.
Turin and Nagano > Vancouver and SLC
Beijing and Athens > Sydney and Atlanta
So I'm looking forward to both Sochi and Rio.
Specifically Rio though because it will be the first time the Olympics are in South America.
