Once upon a time there was a man

who was an unrepentant leftist. He was Weather Underground, SDS, burning draft cards, admirer and follower of Angela D., got clubbed in Chicago, etc. Flaming leftist.

Years later he was on his deathbed and he summoned his daughter. He whispered in her ear and she said "you want what." He said, "you heard me."

She was quite alarmed and discussed what her father said with her brother. She says, "dad wants me to download a voter registration form for him to sign. I don't get it, but I will comply." She downloads the form and presents it to him. He takes it and, it takes a long time, but he fills it out. She reviews it and screams, "what the hell, you registered as a Republican, have you lost your mind?"

Her dad smiles at his daughter and says, "better one of them dies than one of us."
