Cali is my 9 year-old rag doll whom many of you here helped win the Nestle's pet of the month award several years ago. It seems he may have had a stroke this morning and they are keeping him at the animal hospital to see if there are any changes but the vet warned me that it is very serious and I should be prepared to make a difficult decision if things don't improve.
I am a blubbering mess so summoning up any positive thoughts at this point is very difficult so Cali and I could use all the help we can get.

(30,947 posts)Nine years old is fairly young for a cat. I feel your grief because I have lost a few dogs within the past 10 years. I am sending good vibes to Cali and am hoping for the best.

(2,015 posts)I'm wondering if his size has anything to do with it. He's a big boy weighing in at about 19 pounds but that isn't unusual for his breed.

(2,015 posts)as hard as it is for me I can't let my sweet boy suffer. I do trust this vet and while I'm hoping for a miracle I will take the vets advice. Thank you for the well wishes.

(2,015 posts)He seemed fine Monday night, even followed me everywhere as usual and sat on the top step of the step stool in the kitchern while I did dishes. Tuesday morning he walked into the bedroom and I thought he just layed down clumsily because I heard him thump but he couldn't get up or use his hind legs.
I thought of calling you but I've pretty much just been crying for two days. Symone is very upset, she stayed under the bed all day yesterday.

(206,016 posts)I just wish I could have been there for you. I know that fright so very well. I am so, so sorry. He was a completely amazing cat and I know how you felt abut him, the connection and how proud you've been of him, and with good reason. After reading this before I went to bed, I kept waking up and had horrible dreams. I thought he was pretty incredible, too, and feel terrible all on my own. But I'm mainly feeling for you. Please let me know if there is anything... really.
