Acorn? Seen all Midsommers, Agatha Raisin, Dalgleish, poirot, Marple. Watching Ruth Rendell mysteries now with Geo. Baker. Above Suspicion with Kelly Reilly was good. Seen all Morse eps
Didn't like Broken wood, sadly
Any gems on these channels I'm missing?

(19,962 posts)It doesn't take itself too seriously, nice generally light.
Actually there's also an offshoot series starting too with one of the previous Detective Inspectors, Kris Marshall.

Father Brown is also one you may want to explore, and as others have mentioned Vera

(22,264 posts)This (long) series is a hoot. Set in early 20th century Toronto
the series is a great deal of fun .
Murdoch is continually inventing tools for his police team to utilize; these tools vaguely resemble items we depend on today.
The storyline often includes portrayals of well known historical figures, such as Einstein, Conan Doyle, HG Wells, Alexander Graham Bell, Tesla, and Theodore Roosevelt.
It is lots of fun to watch
Sorry you did not enjoy Brokenwood! We really enjoyed it.
Others we liked : Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, Mystery Road, Queens of Mystery, Miss Fisher's Modern Murder Mysteries, Pie in the SKy, Harry Wild, Mr & Mrs Murder, Crownies and its spinoff Janet King

(10,683 posts)Maybe I'll give brokenwood another chance. I thought Endeavour was on one of the channels-its a prequel to Morse- but now I can't find it.
I keeping waiting for new eps of Midsommer Murders

(9,123 posts)24 episodes! And most of them excellent. There seems to be a very creative writing crew.

I'm open to anything crime related. One good thing: after reading them all, and seeing then, I keep forgetting who the killer is on Marple and poirot

(50,955 posts)Shetland is good - same author as created Vera. And that same author again did The Long Call, though I haven't seen that yet.
Scott and Bailey is from a few years ago, but if you haven't seen it, it's terrific.
Also from a while back but great is Waking the Dead.

(50,955 posts)They're whodunits but you also have to figure out "howdunit." And some of the solutions are very clever.

(34,136 posts)As a result, I had little trouble understanding most of the locals, even Scottish and Orkney. My husband, on the other hand, had a lot of trouble - but he didn't watch as many Brit mysteries as I had.
The people I had the worst problem understanding turned out to mostly be non-UK residents working in the country - for instance, the Spanish man who waited on us at one restaurant. I'd heard a lot of Hispanic accents growing up in Florida, but Hispanic with a British accent on top is a strange mix!

(11,910 posts)are the Australian Doctor Blake Mysteries (set in the '50s), and Brit New Tricks
A detective with mental problems who solves his partner's murder with the help of his hallucinations. Very quirky, not everybody's cup of tea, but brilliantly portrayed by Stellan Skarsgard (sp?). Only six episode's but I dearly wish they'd made more.
