Nothing real serious.
I was enroute to Obama headquarters to talk about becoming an Obama Fellow. Of course on the way, some idiot from Alabama (I'm in Pennsylvania) rear ends me.
My never scratched VW Routan is seriously injured. State Trooper took a report and the driver of the other car took complete responsibility for the damage. The driver his wife & 2 kids were okay. An off duty paramedic stopped and checked everyone out.
I was seatbelted & when I was hit, my head went forward, and I swear I felt my brain shake. I have a headache and keeping an eye on how I feel as the evening goes on & whether or not I head to my Doctor's office.
Turned everything over to my insurance company. My car was driveable but the other one was flat bedded.
As recommended I did go to the hospital. I have a concussion. But the CT found things that I didn't know. I have arthritis in my neck (C-6 & C-7) also found that I have two things that I need an MRI for, 1. a meningioma (tumor) and hyperostosis (bone growth). The tumor is 95% of the time found to be benign. After the MRI, I have to meet with a neurologist.
There was a reason for this accident, I guess.

(5,364 posts)It may ruin your day but don't let it ruin everything else.

(149,761 posts)You just might want to get this checked out, even if you do feel OK. Brain injuries can sneak up on you before you know it...
Take care!

(1,013 posts)Was rear ended from a passing vehicle, while PARKED. Yep. Felt like a bobble head doll, but was sure it was just from "being shook up". NOPE, about three days later the headache was ridiculous, then the neck decided it didn't want to turn. THEN started falling down, which only made me angry. Took three people to talk me into going to a doc, th common term is whiplash. Yeah, I didn't believe they actually existed. The motion tore the middle of the scalene muscle group. The falling was due to an imbalance of fluid in the inner ear. If its covered by your or their insurance, be wiser than I was and save yourself the time. If its nothing -GREAT.
Vibes coming your way.

(1,374 posts)And I apologize on behalf of all idiotic drivers from Alabama. People around here have poor driving skills among other issues...

(4,033 posts)The driver actually was very nice and apologetic. He told me where he was headed for vacation & I'm trying hard to understand why he was on this road.
He's from Prattville, Alabama.

(1,374 posts)I actually thought it was funny because I see such bad driving around here all the time. But, I'm sure that's true just about anywhere you go.
I'm glad he wasn't a jerk because I see that a lot around here too.

(4,033 posts)I had my brakes on, and there comes this driver I don't know from where and BOOM. I will tell you there are 4 lanes, 2 of which exit lanes on the right and then 2 lanes to go through the tunnel. I was in the far left lane.
Where he said he was going on vacation, I believe he should have been in one of the exit lanes for the state route heading south.
BTW, the State Trooper was very nice also. It helped that we both had current Driver's Licenses and insurance.

(30,947 posts)Keep us posted. The other driver's insurance should cover any of your injury and damage to your car.

(4,033 posts)the other driver took full responsibility for the accident. Which is so refreshing in these times.

(4,890 posts)Getting your brain scrambled is no joke.
I would go right away.

(22,976 posts)You may have a mild concussion or badly pinched cervical nerves, etc. The sooner you get examined, the better off you'll be.
Hang in there --

(1,675 posts)You can have a closed head injury and it wont effect you right away. I strongly suggest you go to the ER and get checked out!!!
I'm sending good vibes, but agree that you should see a doctor.

(5,604 posts)and go get checked out. I was rear-ended a few years ago and just shrugged it off since my truck was not damaged (even though there was an Oldsmobile suddenly parked underneath it). The next day the head ache and back ache started and sure enough I had a concussion and my my spine was twisted out of whack.

(55,027 posts)but you should go get checked out just in case - especially for the documentation in that just in case

(1,675 posts)I believe these things do happen for a reason. The doc's just found the cyst in my brother's brain on a fluke and that is something if they don't remove it, someday it will kill him. I know there are a lot of people who believe everything is just pure coincidence but I have seen too many to believe there isn't something more.
I send you hugs and best wishes!! Good luck, I am so glad you are going to be ok.
I wasn't going to tell you this story until you went to the hospital, but now that you have, I will.
During the blizzard of 78, when my father was a cop there was a young girl who was in a minor car accident and she refused to get checked out by the hospital. The police were concerned about her and were checking on just about everyone because of the blizzard and they found she had died. So I always strongly suggest anyone in any kind of car accident get checked out.
So take care!
