Melvin Jerome "Mel" Blanc (May 30, 1908 -- July 10, 1989) was an American voice actor and comedian. Although he began his nearly 60 YEARS long career performing in radio commercials, Blanc is best remembered for his work with Warner Bros. during the "Golden Age of American animation" as the voice of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Tweety Bird, Sylvester the Cat, Yosemite Sam, Foghorn Leghorn, Marvin the Martian, Pepé Le Pew, Speedy Gonzales, the Tasmanian Devil, and many of the other characters from the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies theatrical cartoons. He later worked for Hanna-Barbera's television cartoons, most notably as the voice of Barney Rubble in The Flintstones and Mr. Spacely in The Jetsons. Having earned the nickname "The Man of a Thousand Voices," Blanc is regarded as one of the most influential people in the voice-acting industry.

At the time of his death, it was estimated that 20 million people heard his voice every day.

He was what made those cartoons the hits that they were. It was far more than just the voices, it was the personality of each character; the animation was only half, the voice and attitude completed the character.

Those were always my favorite cartoons.

But they were excellent! And have stood the test of time.

Just realized why I didn't care so much for Roadrunner episodes over the decades: Mel Blanc's talents were not shown as well as with the other characters' episodes.

BTW: a huge selection of Looney Toons episodes is available through streaming on a major streaming service.

Mel Blanc, I believe, is the reason Looney Tunes has stood the test of time. There were a lot of fine artists etc that helped as well with the many characters but Mr. Blanc brought them to life. I hope someday to visit his resting place and pay tribute. The headstone is awesome; "That's All Folks"

"It's a case of mistaken indemnity!"

"Ah, this New Orleens! I t'ink I'll stick around for the Maddri Grass!"

It wasn't just the mispronunciation that was funny; he also didn't know or care that he said it wrong.

Woody Woodpecker was another one who tried this gag, but he always made a big deal of pronouncing a word wrong; basically going "Get it? Get it?" to the audience, and ruining the fun of it.
