1. The first time I heard this song was years ago at the funeral of

a young person who had committed suicide.

It was this version. The sadness stayed with me forever.

2. I was at an open mike about 10 Yrs ago

Normally drew a decent crowd and mostly local performers, many repeat , so it was a bit stale sometimes and the crowd generally was a bit talkative etc as it was in a bar …
But one nite a traveler showed up from about an hour away, and sat to perform on solo acoustic … crowd was chatty and a bit rowdy … and this young guy started into that song, singing in a perfect Kermit voice , and within 20 seconds everyone was silent and transfixed by him … I think they were all taken back to their childhoods and memories …
He played the one song, got a standing ovation and left .

I’ll never forget it 😀

I believe they had all the muppets "singing" this song.

It makes me cry, too.
