They are supposedly bred in captivity which can generate that mutation (which is not related to albinism) and don't exist in the wild.

12. That's the thing I miss the most. I'm from south Jersey and used

to go to Philly every New Year's Day when they marched and performed in the streets. If you were lucky, you'd get to sit on a friend's balcony, so you could see better.The most awesome themes, music, and costumes you ever saw. Them doin the Mummer's strut to Golden Slippers. There was a time only men were allowed in the string bands. Not sure about now. I think they hold it indoors now, too. But, those are some really good memories. Quite cold, though lol

14. The Mummers no longer have any gender restrictions

and what they do indoors are the full-on Fancy Brigade productions (I think each is 4 1/2 minutes long and I heard this week that 11 Brigades were competing IIRC), which not only allows them to fund-raise with that but helps to protect their intricate costumes since they are usually more elaborate than the String Bands and Comics and the weather (particularly the wind) can just tear them up. Example of one of the OTT Fancy performances (Shooting Stars Fancy Brigade) -

Am literally hearing on the radio right now a I type regarding the times (being held in the PA Convention Center at 11:30 am and then 5 pm, which is the show that will be judged). The report mentioned that this is the 25th year of having those Fancies shows at the Convention Center.

Otherwise they are still marching down to South Philly (the routes have changed multiple times over the years but South Philly is always in there somewhere since the club houses are there) and the String Bands do put on their own productions on the street with moving sets, etc. like (Quaker City String Band) -
