This was the headline for the weather column in this morning's local newspaper. I was just out for a walk, and indeed, the air did not hurt my face. It was nice for a change.

1. My front storm door was frozen shut.

2. My hobby orchard took a solid blow in N. Florida.

I had two trees full of rope oranges that are now orange mush. I had already picked tangerines and lemons. My pear tree was budding; no pears this year. The jury is still out on the Loquat, but I am not holding out any hope, the fruits on it were tiny this time of year. The plum trees were still dormant so maybe.... C’est la guerre

6. That's a shame! Is there anything you can make with orange mush?

At least around here we don't have to worry about the cold killing tree fruit because everything is already dormant or dead.

3. I've actually walked

my little chihuahua the past 2 days - today with only his natural coat on. It's 50 degrees here in Durham NC right now; still getting cold at night but even that is going to be changing.

4. Around Here, Wait For The Next Few Days

W, Th, F our highs are mid 40s to low 50s. It was 8 below zero on Friday! 3 below on Saturday.
A 50 plus degree swing in just a few days.
