I like making the spinach dip. Served it in round bread with a hollow of bread cut out. You can use the bread for dipping. No double dipping. If it's just me, I like tostados with salsa or guacamole. What about you?

(5,520 posts)No popper to take up space on the counter or in the cabinets.
For cheese, I use whatever we happen to have, but prefer a sharp cheddar if given a choice.
A nice blue goes well with sardines, another low-effort snack. Healthy, too.

Mine collapses to about 2 inches in height; you can fit it in a drawer.
It uses regular old popcorn and cooks in 2 minutes .
I have given a bunch of these as gifts

(5,125 posts)Not as a Holiday Snack, though.
I was sick this holiday.
Got turkey and ham. Had shrimp.
Hubby and I basically make up an appetizer, add a salad and that's dinner.
But gotta have our fudgie too. 100 calories.
debm55
(25,218 posts)what is your favorite fudge?
TigressDem
(5,125 posts)Anything from Wisconsin.
Don't know why, they make awesome fudge.
Whether it's dark or white chocolate, it just MELTS on the tongue.
Had some good fudge at Wall Drug, South Dakota.
REAL fudge has to be on a vacation, so Hubby and I can keep our daily calories in same range.
So we bought a very small ham and small smoked turkey breast.
Will be freezing the remainders tomorrow in serving sizes to add to salads, casseroles or soups.
Waiting for my acorn and butternut squashes to ripen up enough to cook them.
Another type of treat.
One Christmas Eve I had dinner with a friend and her family. They served Stir Fry with peanuts.
I'd like to do that some time.

(22,264 posts)Also it only takes about 30 seconds of thinking about it for me to whip up popcorn. I love my silicone popper!!!

(7,307 posts)And use only about half of the french onion (mostly the dried onion half).
I could never decide between french onion and green onion, so my final compromise was to always mix them. You get the sweetness of the green onion mix plus the chunkiness of the dried onions from the french onion mix.
To this day, that is still my method.

To make it work, I bought each kid their own cocoa mug and hot cocoa mix with marshmallows.
So no fighting over it. Each has their own.

(25,218 posts)microwave strength, humidity, age of kernals etc. start with 80-90 seconds for a regular lunchbag with a 1/4 cup of kernels. fold over top a couple times. some people use tape, I haven't ever tried that and I do have bags tip over and come open sometimes. not a problem when the oven is clean but most of the time...yuck. LOL
listen like the commercial instructions say...stop when the popping gets sparse - right after the main big burst of popping. it does take a little practice, but regular popcorn is cheap, you can afford more mistakes this way.
I found some slightly larger bags and I can do 1/3 cup for 1 min 50 sec, comes out just about right. makes a nice bowlful, use about 2 TBSP butter, just foamed and a light sprinkle of salt. so good.
