Nasty weather, although we don't complain about rain in Californis these days. I've got some good classic movies recorded to watch with my wife, some good food planned for the next few days.
Fuck it. I'm gonna break out the last of the Egg Nog and start drinking this afternoon. Stay tuned.
I hope everyone has a happy and prosperous New Year. Cheers.

(26,263 posts)I bought a bottle of a nice, sparkling Italian wine that I will have with cheese and crackers, later.
Unless one of the neighbors sets off fireworks, we will all likely sleep through the 'transition'.

(86,638 posts)Or desire to go anywhere.
I have plenty to do and I may just open that bottle of port my friend gave me for my birthday and have a sip or two.
Here's a song I have repurposed for my New Year's song to DU:

(24,300 posts)The Chicago Transit Authority was my first live concert. I was right after that album came out, and I bought the record the next day after the concert. I still have it and maybe I will break it out and listen to it. At the very least I will find it on YouTube and listen with the headphones. Thanks for the reminder.

(86,638 posts)I was smitten by them the first time I heard them, I was too young for concerts then but my eldest sister was seriously into them, still lived in New England then, man that was ages ago. And they were on regular rotation on the radio as well.
One thing I had access to in my sketchy childhood was music of every genre, readily available. I'll always be thankful for that, kept me sane.

(20,875 posts)I hope they quit with all of the fireworks early tonight.
In fact, I hope they get rained out!
I'm not fond of fireworks ... at all!

(16,339 posts)we usually go to a local watering hole for a couple glasses of wine, just to be convivial, but not this year. Tunes, some football, some movies, good food and some bubbles later on. As native midwesterners, it feels kind of normal to just hole up for the day...

(17,542 posts)My wife is more of a late night owl, so I will expect her under the covers about ten after twelve. Laid back is our way of life and I am loving it.

(1,822 posts)Unusually warm day in Valley Forge, PA. Foggy and light rain. Did some year end cleaning, ate our version of surf and turf. Steak, grilled red snapper, topped with crab meat. College football is in the background.
May the Ukraines win sooner rather than later.
May Putin, tfg and Clarence Thomas go away.. the world will be a better place.

(24,300 posts)but it looks like we've started to gather a nice group of stay-at-homes for the evening. A gathering with friends I've never done exactly this way. This is nice.

im getting used to it.
Mr.Bill
(24,300 posts)to avoid driving after dark. We are finding it's harder in the winter when it's dark at 5:00. A short trip to the grocery store on well lit roads is okay, but not the two lane windy highways in our area.
