Are briefs needed when wearing long (thermal) underwear?

1. Briefs are not NEEDED at all.

I wear them with long underwear to preserve the ability to wear the long johns more than once. I have more underwear than thermals, soooooo. Hope your friend finds this useful

that will convince my friend. He was worried about fishing through an additional flap in emergency situations. 😎

Wearing undies under thermals provides an extra layer and allows for the thermals to be worn more than once. The only downside is the extra layer could add a challenge during bathroom breaks

If you’re wearing longjohns or a union suit, that’s underwear. You can do what you want of course but it’s a redundancy.

Wearing long undies at this moment. Spent a lot of time, outside today, clearing off the wrap-around deck and solar panels. Boxers not needed, adds another layer of uncertainty when peeing.

9. Needed and not much of I problem I can see. I wear thermal socks and undies all through the cold

months, usually with sweats. The undies are my jammies too.
