In bed looking at crockpots on my phone and thinking of the pecan pie I bought today.

Wondering if there is any vanilla ice cream in freezer that goes great with pie should I get up and go look. Thinking do I really want a slice of pecan pie and I’m ok with the old style crockpot with the off low or high settings not sure about the programmable type. Yet if I did get a programmable crockpot I’d be current with technology my wife used to comment on my 20th century percolator as she would mention her K cups technology.

5. I just bought a "programmable" Crockpot. This one you can only pick one temp and how long

it cooks. I hoped I could set it for something like an hour or two on high, then switch to low for the rest. It's not a big deal and I never really timed my crock pot stuff before. I'm still up checking on it and tasting to see if it's just right.

I broke it in two days ago with pork loin pot roast. I used the pork loin ends left from a big batch of Chines barbecued pork. A batch of chili is up next.

9. I bought a new one...

Back about five years ago, I used it once to make tincture. I had to have one with three temp settings because the low on the two speed units is too hot. It's nice oval one with a removable crock. Last month I gave it to my hiking buddy for his birthday because his was all used up, the crock had a crack in it.

We have a dinner and cards date every weekend and his first use of his new pot was baby-back ribs. OMG! That was so good! We take turns making the entree, I have been teaching how to make pie and other things he never tried like enchiladas.

It work out well for the winter. We play Rummy, dice and Backgammon... I'm going to teach him Cribbage next. In the warm months we go hiking when it isn't too hot.

A kid in rural, coastal New England. I see it still lives around here. In town there's a small cribbage club.

I haven't played in years, I'll have to brush up on how it goes before I try to tell him about it.

programmable one, and honestly I usually end up just using the old one. The newer one only comes out at Thanksgiving.
