butt, lips? I like me the way I am. Not talking about reconstructive surgery here. Thinking about Jared and Ivanka too.
Thank you.

Never. The risks are too great and I am not vain. My only thoughts about plastic surgery, or surgery in general, was when I was younger. I lost a LOT of weight after gastric bypass which was to save my life. I lost over 250 pounds. I thought about a body lift for the excess skin, but decided against it because I didn't want the risk of surgery for a primarily cosmetic reason.
Oh, I kept off most of the weight, only gained back 50. But I am 61, no diabetes or pre-diabetes, excellent cholesterol and triglycerides and take one small dose of a blood pressure pill. Bypass saved my life.

(36,307 posts)believe Joan Rivers died while getting cosmetic surgery. Some movie stars go the the whole nine yards-eyes, nose, etc. In the post, it said Shania is 57. She does not look 57 at all. So many people look plastic and not natural. I guess you have to get the best doctors.

(20,344 posts)I missed that thread. It's a tough spot for celebrities, female celebrities in particular. Those who eschew cosmetic surgery know they're going to get fewer roles and opportunities. They're going to hear that they look so old now, every wrinkle and age spot scrutinized.
Those who opt to get plastic surgery are bound to be ridiculed for looking like a Barbie or now being unrecognizable.
Sure, the money is great for celebs. But the societal pressures to always look good are real.

(9,623 posts)There's an abundance of appearance shaming that goes above and beyond necessary.
I recently had a family member appearance shame one of my top favorite musician, singer, producer and filmmaker.
I'm seriously considering having the image of said person placed on my vehicle with a medium sized vehicle wrap.

I do have some sun damage on my face and I've been researching chemical peels. I'm definitely interested in this procedure to remove the sun damage on my face to retain my youthful appearance.

It was elective, but not considered cosmetic, so insurance (Medicare Part B and supplemental) covered it.

(51,482 posts)I have a little bit of forehead creasing. That takes care of it really well. Most people do it every three months, but six is fine for me.
I've been going to this injector for about three years. She is REALLY good. If I hadn't told you it was in there, you'd never know. And it helps keep me looking 35, even though I'm almost 60.
Do I NEED it? Naah...if I didn't do it I might look 40. But I like it.
I'm not doing anything that involves scalpels.

(25,458 posts)2 C-sections - 1990 and 1992. Both left a flap of droopy skin that had nothing to do with weight or muscle tone. No stretch marks. No muffin top. No loss of abdominal muscle tone. Just an area of loos skin that looked like a large flesh-toned croissant. I took to calling it a "mudflap." It showed thru thinner clothing, and really bothered me.
I'm about to be 72. I've wanted to do this for 30 years, and I'm so glad I did - I'm delighted with the results.
I'm also getting some spider veins injected and am looking forward to being able to wear shorts without my legs looking like I've been beaten with a baseball bat.
