(5,799 posts)still couldn't figure out the original country he was found in. I remember when they had that strict ban on bringing dogs in; it lasted only a short time but the restrictions were harsh. The animal coming into the states had to have proof of being vaccinated with American-manufactured rabies in compliance with the DA.
I met a man on a plane going out of the country with his little dog and kind of inquired to see if he knew of the regs. He wasn't too concerned about it and I don't know if the trip was a programmed round trip. Fortunately, that requirement did not stick or cause too many problems with the international pet movement I was aware of.

(54,618 posts)I was wondering which country the dog came from. My sister just returned from Vietnam and they can't believe Americans spend all that money and time on a dog since in many areas of the country dogs are all over the place and they DO eat them! They are not neutered and spayed and they are homeless so you can imagine what this situation is like. Yuk! I couldn't look at pictures of any dogs that were in her trip photos since I knew the possible fate of many of them. Tony Bourdain never ate dog on his shows but he did see it being done.

(36,925 posts)We found this guy on Facebook. He had been in a fight with a bigger dog, broke his leg pretty badly, and left at a shelter. My daughter wanted to adopt him and he was with a foster family. Problem was he was almost 600 miles away. Fortunately I have a private plane so we went and picked him up. He's almost fully recovered now and is a great little pup.

(36,925 posts)As far as we can tell he's all Corgi, but very small for one. His leg was broken so badly he had several pins installed to get it to heal. It took some time before he could walk normally. Now he still has a noticeable limp when he runs and probably always will, but it doesn't seem to slow him down much.
