So, this morning as I was reading the Juror Information on Courthouse Security included in the jury duty summons I received yesterday, I came across this: Firearms, electronic stun devices, alcoholic beverages, pepper spray, CO2 canisters, multi-tools, straight knitting needles, and other pointed or sharp items such as scissors and knives, are not allowed in the courthouse.
I guess my next project will call for circular needles, but if the can take away your AR-15s, can knitting needles be far behind?
And what about that martini I wanted bring in a thermos along with my sack lunch?

(22,091 posts)where there are other city offices too, like the mayor's office, the department of public utilities (water, sewer, snow removal), etc.
So I've sometimes gone there in person to question someone about a bill or traffic ticket.
Going in the entrance is like getting on a plane. Remove coins and keys from pockets, put my purse in a box to go through a metal detector. Have a wand passed over me. They made me remove a small, travel size sewing kit from my purse because it had strait pins, safety pins, needles, and a tiny pair of folding scissors that had rounded edges like a child's scissors. I had to put the kit in an envelope with my name and contact info to be held at a desk and reclaimed on.my way out.
I wasn't even going to the court room, was just paying a bill.
