Good films that didn't know how to end

I hope that makes sense. Something had an above average beginning, middle but a poor finish. Could be for a variety of reasons.

I had to think about this and looked up filmograghys so this probably not my first coice and am not sure about this one. John Q. I thought going overboard for the tears then bailing the audience out. I think it would be great but tragic.

Don't get me wrong. All the laughs make them worth it, but they just all seem to peter out, with very few exceptions. I think Young Frankenstein is the biggest culprit.

-Most of the Pink Panther movies
-Mouse that roared
-The Party
-Casino Royale
all ended with chaos or car/foot chases, and Dr. Strangelove was originally supposed to end with a pie fight, but instead ended with Armageddon

It must be difficult trying to bring such excellent silliness to a close.
