(6,581 posts)I tied it off at the base extremely tightly with dental floss. It turned purple, then black, and fell off in about 2 days.
Probably not medically sound, but it had such a narrow vascular connection (the little stalk) that I didn't think there was any significant risk of dangerous infection or other complications.
Oh, and it was quite sore during this process. Maybe the wart freeze stuff would be better. I don't think they had this years ago when I used my method.

(22,756 posts)wouldn't give medical advice but I have also used a razor blade... just be prepared to control bleeding... I used to have lots of skin tags and cut them all off myself years ago...

(6,261 posts)My wife's doctor snipped hers off with scissors, which made no sense to me until I saw a $1,000 bill for 'surgery'. We refused to pay the bill, and it's still in dispute.

... that didn't use the "normal, harsh chemicals". I don't know what it was (nor what the products
with "harsh chemicals" were), but I bet it will air ad nauseum.

(46,585 posts)I had my ears pierced when I was 13 by freezing the lobes with ice and sticking a needle through them. It worked fine. I would imagine you could do the same, freeze it locally with ice, and then slice it cleanly at the skin line with a sharp instrument. Use antiseptic before and after and just keep the site clean.

I don't know if it worked or not because you have to be very diligent about it...painting it like every few hours or so, and I kept forgetting, but eventually they went away, so who knows.
I have a few more, and will try again.

(55,007 posts)that is if they are accessible to both of your hands - that one on the side of the neck is actually pretty hard to tie yourself
or ask a family member for help. that is providing you don't have all squeamish crybaby wimps in your house

(3,818 posts)My friend's daughter had several and they kept coming back after her MD removed them too. I think she finally heard that milkweed (the milk from the plant) could help. She tried it and they never came back. I read recently that Manuka Honey ointment might work for warts so maybe that would help with skin tags too. Maybe regular honey would work too.
