I had a perfectly good empty box lying next to a store bought cat bed and my cat was contentedly sleeping in the cat bed with the box remaining empty.
Is this a medical or psychological issue with the cat? Everyone knows that cats MUST choose an empty box over anything store bought for them!

OP
It seems the problem may be that you were expecting the cat to sleep in the box. eom

(15,369 posts)1. What size is the box?
It is important that you have a box quite a bit smaller than the cat.

I'll have to test it with a shoe box to properly diagnose this phenomenon.

He will only really settle down for serious sleeping on beds, padded carpets, chairs/sofa and his cat bed. Butch is a luxury pig.
