Hosted by Dan Rowan and Dick Martin, this groundbreaking sketch comedy show was a fast-moving barrage of jokes, one-liners, running skits, and musical numbers. The groundbreaking, Emmy Award-winning show, created by George Schlatter, premiered in January, 1968 and ran until March, 1973.

A group of regulars including Goldie Hawn, Lily Tomlin, Jo Anne Worley, Ruth Buzzi, Arte Johnson, Henry Gibson, Judy Carne, Alan Sues, Chelsea Brown, and Gary Owens--plus frequent guests like Barbara Feldon, Flip Wilson and Don Rickles left a lasting impression on America.

1. Last year...

One of my friends came to visit for a couple days and at night we would watch a movie or share something online like a couple computer nerds. Well somehow we found something that I thought was a pretty bold step in risque but she thought it was pretty tame. So we talked about that, we are 25 years apart in age after all. I started explaining what teevee in three commercial channels was like and censorship and... and.. LAUGH-IN!

So we searched for and found the pilot episode and watched the whole thing. She was amazed and laughed a lot. I felt old but enjoyed introducing someone who would never have known about it otherwise. I also introduced her to the Smothers Brothers.
